The medications usually do the trick in a few sessions over a specific length of time.

Anal warts can also be removed by the use of surgery or similar methods. These procedures will eliminate the anal warts very quickly but can be costly and do require anesthesia while being performed. When the warts are inside the anus the medications are said not to be effective meaning that surgery is needed. Your family doctor will be able to recommend the best options for your particular case after making a diagnosis.

Prevention

The only real way to prevent anal warts is by abstaining from sex or sexual contact with persons that have warts. Genital warts are a serious business, not like common warts or plantar warts. If you are going to have sex then have you and your partner checked out for the virus and always use protection.
